The Great Commission was issued to each follower of Christ, but not all heed it as fervently as Bro. Doug Criswell. For many years I have seen his heart for reaching the lost and growing churches at home and around the world. It has been a great joy to work with him in church revivals and share in his love for people and commitment to God's Word. Douglas Criswell was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio . He is the pastor of a local church in the Dayton area. The church is a mission church that he has been at since June 2008.  He has been married for thirty-two years. He and his wife have two lovely daughters, who are also married.

Doug accepted the Lord as his Savior in 1985 at Grace Baptist Church . He received his bachelor’s degree from Clear Creek Baptist Bible College in 1992. While at Clear Creek he served as pastor of Newtown Baptist Church . In 1992, he left Newtown to begin a mission church in Moraine, Ohio . This is where his love for missions began. He served there for almost two years, leading them from mission status to form Unity Baptist Church . From there he began serving at his home church, Grace Baptist, and presently serves there today.

In 2006, while sharing during a revival meeting, God led evangelist Dr. Ronnie Owens, Pastor Steve Maylee and Doug to begin contemplating how they could best reach the world for Jesus. Together they have a heart to see as many as possible come to know the Lord as their Savior. Since they are all three already involved in ministry in their own perspective areas, they determined that short term volunteer missions on flexible schedules would be feasible for them, as well as others they knew. They felt others would be interested in these same kinds of opportunities. So God led them to begin Harvest International Missions.

Since that time, they have been blessed to see many from different places in the world come to a saving knowledge of the Lord. They have led mission’s teams to destinations such as the Amazon River in Brazil , Africa and Guatemala . The main thrust of every trip is to see as many saved as possible, although the ministry also includes feeding the hungry, working in an orphanage and beginning churches where it is possible. Harvest International works in conjunction with “Hope for Life” in Guatemala . This partnership offers them a variety of opportunities for ministry. God has truly blessed the work and continues to add to the different facets of ministry.

Doug leads about four trips a year to these different countries while staying very busy in the two churches. He has now partnered with Clear Creek to take their Missions Students on required trips. He is also slowly trying to finish his doctorate degree at Southern Seminary in Louisville , Ky.
